Bio 7 – Taylor Hiner – A Rockford defensive stalwart in her first year protecting the goalie, Taylor Hiner is an offensive star turned defense. A former attack, Hiner made the move from offense to defense to help the Spartans get better defensively. Her transition has transformed MSU’s porous defense into a better playing unit, said members of the coaching staff. Hiner, who doubles as the team’s president, gives the Spartans a bright, speedy and capable defender who should have a breakout season this spring. “Taylor is one of our best defenseman because she’s smart and can see the play in front of her,” said Emily Pastula, MSU’s defensive. “We will be expecting a lot from Taylor this spring because we have to take the next step defensively and she gives us that opportunity.”
