12 – Sarah Whitney – The high flying Sarah Whitney will move from midfield to attack in the spring to replace All-Conference first-teamer Abbey Neerken (64G– 42A), who is not returning this year. The capable Whitney, a lefthander, will fill in nicely this spring offensively because she was second in team scoring through the fall ball season. The lightening quick Toledo St. Ursula Academy prep star is ready for a breakout season. Whitney is fast, plays smart and continues to improve daily. She doubles as the team’s treasurer. “I finally get a lefthander behind the net with Sarah and I think she’s going to do some damage. I noticed this fall that she’s getting more relaxed playing attack and as a career midfielder, there is a transition time to consider when changing positions. There’s not much Sarah can’t do offensively, so now we have to just work on better offensive selection, but she’s ready, I can tell you that,” said Greg Normand, Michigan State’s head coach. |
